Marvel Vs. Capcom: Jumping on the bandwagon

Don’t let the title fool you, I’ve always been interested in the series M.VS.C. for years. I remember all the fun I had with the original arcade game with my brother when I was younger, and how it depended on the day, I could actually kick his butt with Spider-Man and Ken on my team. The idea of having two different fighters from two hugely different world on the same team always inspired ideas of mashing up other of my favorite games and shows together to kick some major butt. Not all ideas where as effective as other seeing as how the Hulk and Wolverine tag team it up is more interesting then having Niko Belic (GTA IV) and Master Chief kicking some alien ass. Though that’s my opinion, matching up universes should be left to the care of professionals.

To the point of my title, I will say I’m joining in on the journalistic bandwagon in the sense that I am actually going to report on the goings on of this game, for the moment that pertains to the behemoth of a character roster which seems to continually grow larger by the day. Insert your witty, hormone induced comment here and get ready for me to take a look at the current list of Marvel Vs. Capcom: The Fate of Two Worlds:

As you can see from the rag-tag team of characters below that when the companies decided to merge worlds, they were not taking any exceptions to who to bring along to the party. Amongst the fighting legends like Ryu (above), Capcom decided this go round they would let their other ass kickers from series outside Street Fighter and Mega Man to join the fray, with addition of such characters as Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine for the Resident Evil series, Trish and Dante from the DMC series, and even adding a bit of cultural flare and style by letting ole’ Amaterasu off her leash to come fight against the Super Heroes (and villians) of the Marvel universe.

Rag tag team

Ryu (Street Fighter), Haggar (Final Fight), Arthur (Ghost n Goblins) line up ready to take on any on comers

Here is the current roster of characters at the moment, but knowing  Capcom a new challenger will come forward moments before the release in mid February:

Capcom:

Akuma (Street Fighter)

Amaterasu  (Okami)

Arthur (Ghosts N Goblins)

Chris Redfield (Resident Evil)

Chun- Li (Street Fighter)

Dante (Devil May Cry)

Felicia (Darkstalkers)

Haggar (Final Fight)

Jill Valentine (Resident Evil) A DLC character

Morrigan (Darkstalkers)

Ryu (Street Fighter)

Spencer (Bionic Commando)

Trish (Devil May Cry)

Tron Bonne (Mega Man Legends)

Viewtiful Joe (Viewtiful Joe)

C. Viper (Street Fighter)

Wesker (Resident Evil)

M.O.D.O.K.

Phoenix

Wolverine

X-23
That is the list as of this moment, with the two updates I found this morning of Akuma and Taskmaster  that boils the roster down to 36 playable characters in all. So you can definitely imagine all the possible combinations at your disposal. I’m personally exciting about all the out of character fighters in this game and can’t wait to give Arthur and Viewtiful Joe a try along with testing out some of the more powerful super heroes moves.

Why don’t you tell me what character your most excited about? Or if you feel this style of fighter has been over played let me hear that too, just shoot me a comment in the boxes below.
